A castle and its fine wines.
Built over a twelve year period from 1888-1900, the icy white, art-nouveau style Château de Valmy towers above the vineyards of the Vallmaria domain.
Like several of the residences in the area, it was commissioned by the industrial magnate Pierre Bardou and designed by the Danish architect Viggo Dorph Petersen. Built in a curious but harmonious blend of styles, the castle hides a metallic support structure which was a sign of great architectural daring at the time it was conceived. The Château Valmy is also renowned for the quality of the wines produced in its vineyards.
