The pressure's going down
They've been dreaming about it for almost a century. Every year, the whole of Auvergne has got behind Clermont in the hope that, finally, they would bring back the Brennus shield. This much awaited bout de bois means that now the 'Jaunards' can feel a bit less burdened. So much pressure was on after 10 lost finals, three of which came consecutively. After a year in the championship which wasn't always easy, the team from Auvergne overcame Perpignan to become champions.
This new season is going to be complicated for the French champions. The title could in fact make them lose focus since they spent so many years being behind. The opposite effect is also possible: a desire for even more titles. From now on, Vern Cotter's men will no longer be the victims of pressure and he will have to rely on them again this year.
