Genesis of the "landscape".
Following on from 19th century landscape painters who invented the notion of the landscape as a genre within painting and later photography, contemporary artists now consider landscapes in the context of social engagement and their position with reference to the key environmental issues of the 21st century.
What is represented today in the form of a landscape? And how has the landscape moved to establish itself on a global scale? The Roger Quilliot Art Museum in Clermont-Ferrand offers answers via its contemporary art collection.
