Casanova, the passion for liberty, exhibition
From Tuesday, November 15 2011 to Sunday, February 19 2012
The last seduction.
The BNF (National Library of France) acquired the manuscript in 2010, written in French, of The Story of My Life by Giacomo Casanova. To celebrate this event, it is devoting a significant exhibition to this surprising writer. Always careful never to sacrifice his freedom, he is the embodiment of the traveller / seducer.
Casanova, the character, whose name has passed into everyday language, was invented by Casanova himself. He was as masterful in the art of mise en scene as in narrative range. Unveiling this powerful writing to the general public, the exhibition takes the visitor on a voyage in the footsteps of this adventurer and pleasure-seeker, into the sensual, bold and baroque eighteenth century world so unique to Casanova.
